You don't think we pay everything in cash here, do you?

No, that's what confuses me, I know my German friends pay for things like card, so why isn't international payment an option, etc. But then I do recall when Delta was launched we could take it immediately in the shop I worked, whereas Maestro needed new kit, and quick goole reveals that's a more common standard elsewhere.

I guess I'm so used to my visa being acceptable everywhere even though I've not had a credit card for years.

But that's also why UK/US companies are a lot less able to accept IBAN/Swift payments, etc. I remmeber having to look up what they were when I wanted to book tickets for an event in Germany.
