zvi found the section from the news post discussing this, yeah! It really, really, really depressed us to realize that there was no way for us to do it without having a near-certainty that LJ would block us the minute we turned it on, because we knew how much people had been looking forward to it, but it really did come down to being a case of having to say we couldn't offer the feature rather than being blocked from getting any data from LJ at all.

It's something we're totally watching to see if there are any changes made on LJ's end that would make fetching that data easier/less server-intensive, though, and if that changes we will pounce in a heartbeat.
