Yes, but not everybody does, or can run FF, or wants to figure out how to use LJLogin, and there are well-documented reports of LJLogin causing major problems (logging you out randomly, switching pages/accounts on you, etc). We'd like to include it natively so people don't have to worry about a third-party add-on.
