It would probably have to "self-destruct", though (i.e. you can only use it for two weeks, or four weeks, or two months, or whatever makes financial sense) -- otherwise people could give each other huge icon allowances for a one-time cost, while the bandwidth cost for Dreamwidth is emphatically not a one-time one.
